Christine Weeks Scofield
September 17, 1977 - June 20, 2012
Christine Scofield, 34, a Navy physician who left the military in the mid-2000s with the rank of lieutenant commander, died June 20 at her home in Brighton, Mass. She had breast cancer, said her brother, Brian Weeks. Christine Marie Weeks was a Bethesda native and a 1995 graduate of Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School in Washington. She was 1999 graduate of the Naval Academy in Annapolis, where she played on the varsity women’s soccer team. She was a 2003 graduate of Harvard University’s medical school and was a surgery resident at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She left the surgery program after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007. In 2011, while undergoing treatment, she received a master’s degree in health-care public policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Survivors include her husband of four years, Ryan Scofield of Brighton; a stepson, Truman Scofield of Redding, Calif.; her parents, Stanley and Kathleen Weeks of Bethesda; two sisters, Elizabeth Anne Weeks of St. Louis and Anne Marie Weeks of Bethesda; and a brother, Brian Weeks of Baltimore. |
