Candidate for Class Secretary- Darlene (Delk) Viscusie
Greetings Class of 1999! I am writing this to announce that I will be running for Class Secretary again. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Class Secretary for the last term. I have enjoyed the new connections and reconnections I have made since you all last elected me. Since the last election, I have had some major life changes. I left my job with the Tennessee Valley Authority after nearly 11 years. I accepted a position with a company whose North American headquarters are located in Lynchburg, VA. These changes were made easier with the support of many of you who reached out to me during my transition. Honestly, some of you who reached out to me are not classmates I knew while at the Academy, and that just reinforced the indelible connection we all have with each other.
While serving as your Secretary, I ensured that every SHIPMATE issue had a submission from the Class of 1999. I intend to continue that if you reelect me. I also helped increase our visibility on social media. Through that increased presence, I saw many Classmates reach out to each other and offer support on issues ranging from professional to personal. Please let me continue these efforts to represent you all and allow me to continue to serve you in my greatest capacity.
